Can God Show How Much He Loves You Through Marriage?
Today, Bart and I celebrate five years of marriage! Wow, it’s funny because I can’t believe five years has already gone by, yet it seems like I have known him forever. Before I met Bart, I wondered if God had marriage in His plan for me.
Throughout my life, I struggled with not ever feeling good enough. Without getting into the long story of it all, I always felt unworthy of the truly great things in life that everyone else deserved. God has taught me A LOT, and most importantly shown me that I was wrong… way wrong. As a child of God, I don’t ever have to worry about actually being good enough. And though I wasn’t worthy, my God loved me so much, that His one and only son died for me. Crazy right?!?!?
God also knew what He was doing when he brought me a husband. He has shown me so much about how He loves me through Bart. It was, and still is, as if God is revealing a side of Himself to me that I did not know before Bart. When Bart seeks the best for me, when He protects me, when He fights for me, when he cares and comforts me… this is all just a fraction of what God feels for me!
Working with teenage girls, I hear some of them talk often about how they just want to be done with school, get married and have kids. I tell them that marriage is really the best thing they could ever imagine all wrapped up with the hardest thing they can ever do. It takes a lot of work! When God spoke of dying to ourselves, I believe he also meant that to be true in marriage. I don’t mean that we lose our identity and completely change the person we are, but we desire to always make our spouse feel honored, cherished, chased after, and loved above all others.
Thank you God for creating Bart for me. Thank you for creating the marriage relationship as an example to us of your love.
Thank you to my wonderful husband, whom I completely adore, for loving me unconditionally, always chasing after me, and for challenging me to grow as a women of God. You are an inspiration to me daily! I love you. Happy Anniversary!

Can Flowers Really Cheer You Up?
Feeling a little overwhelmed this week by the weight of the world, which is why you haven’t heard much from me here.
I spotted this absolutely gorgeous flower arrangement over at Decor Fellow. It grabbed me instantly, I think because of displays simplicity and drama all at the same time. The pureness of the white and the playfullness of the daises gives my soul a little lift, which it needed.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, filled with many dreams and inspirations!

New Found Love… Wisteria!
A good friend of mine sent me some images last week. As soon as my eyes gazed upon them, my jaw dropped and I had an instant boost of energy! I just had to share my new found love with you all. It’s a company called Wisteria. I may just be the last one on earth who has heard of them, that seems to happen to me a lot now as I am discovering more and more wonderful creations here in Blog World.
I will share a my favorite painted furniture pieces with you now, but you must mosey on over to their online catalog and enjoy their full line!
Look at these mirrors!
I, of course, especially love the distressed, vintage quality. And you all know how I love turquoise. Oh, I am dying for this mirror!
I literally believe my heart stopped and sang at the same time when I saw this head board. I was so excited, I actually called my husband over to exclaim, “Look at this, is this not so me! Don’t I need this?!?!”
For a moment, he thought I had lost it. But then the sweetie enjoyed my love of all things painted and vintage!
Aren’t these headboards divine as well. I love the hand painted artwork here. These inspired me instantly to grab my artist’s brushes and canvas and work on a little piece.

Classic French County Kitchen
One of our most requested finishes from our clients is our Antique White Cabinets. A theme we see often is the French Country Kitchen. It’s a classic style, inspired by the natural environment of the French countryside.
French Country style incorporates the rustic character of old french farmhouses and country homes. Jaime and I incorporated this look by distressing the white cabinets and giving them an antique look with our own glaze.
A second aspect in this design is the furniture. Large, oversized furniture is key. And also important, it needs to look as if it has been passed down from generation to generation, like an old french heirloom. For this, we set the oversized island apart by creating heavily distressed, stained wood look. We added layers and layers of glaze to “smoke it up” a bit in areas where the wood would naturally have wear and tear.
Color is essential as well when decorating French Country. When picking colors, keep in mind the natural elements you would see along the french countryside… fields of lavender, blue skies, green grass, yellow sun and sunflowers. Our client chose a soft buttery yellow for her walls. This is a good choice if you want to have color that is still somewhat neutral.
To finish it off, we brought a French blue into the adjacent room by painting the stark white fireplace mantel. The carved wood on this piece was already beautiful. By adding color and a faux finish, this detail stands out even more.

Monday Morning Inspiration
Do you ever feel like the busier you get, the less inspiration you have?
Or maybe, I just am now realizing that the busier you get, the harder you must work at letting yourself be inspired. Right now, the peacefulness of these white rooms are so inspiring to me. Maybe because I would love to be vacationing in these spots right now.

I just love this cottage outdoor patio. The white chandelier, hydrangeas and furniture are beautifully matched with the green painted table base and the colors of the flowers. Sometimes, just letting nature be all the color you have in a setting is just enough.

Here is a more classic setting of an all white decor. I love the candlesticks on the top of the mantel, for that “just a touch” of vintage feel. This room is instantly soothing and tranquil to me! Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Can Being An Aunt Be As Good As Being A Mom?
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mom’s out there!

(Reagan & Lissy, by Reagan Scobey)
Those of you who know me well, know that Bart and I are waiting patiently for God to bless us with children. I used to have a difficult time discussing this, actually I used to not want to discuss it at all. But I know that this is part of our story. And I believe that there is a reason we have stories… to share them, to inspire and encourage others. I once thought that I needed to have a biological child to really experience motherhood. But over the years, I have learned that you don’t have to be a biological mother or father to really be a parent.
Though we are blessed with two of the most wonderful nieces we could
have ever asked for. I am SO extremely thankful that God has allowed Bart and I to have a close relationship with them, and I am always amazed at what God has taught me through these two girls. I especially am blessed by watching the relationship my sister has with them. To see the love between mothers and daughters, the way they laugh together, play together, cry together… it makes my heart break sometimes because I know that is just a fraction of the kind of love The Father has for us!
I went by my sisters the other day after Reagan got home from school. It was so beautiful outside, she wanted to go play with their sidewalk chalk. I had so much fun that afternoon, getting back to the basics of what art is all about. When we ask Reagan what she wants to do when she grows up, she say she wants to be an artist like her Aunt Lissy (at least for now).

See Your Room In A New Color

If you are like me, you love color in your home, but may have a hard time settling with just one color. Too many questions and uncertainties still remain just by looking at a paint chip. Most paint companies offer paint samples in small containers for around $5 to $10.00. Though this does allow you to paint portions of the wall to give you an idea of what it would look like, by the time you buy 3 or 4, you have already spent almost what a whole gallon of paint would cost. But even then it can be a little overwhelming by the time you get a few different colors on the wall. I’m a visual person, so I like to know what it would look like all over.
Now, many companies offer a way for you to digitally see what your WHOLE ROOM would look like with one color. Better still, you don’t even have to leave the house.
