Home Exteriors - Memphis Drive Bys

by Melissa Lewis on June 2, 2008

One of my all time favorite bloggers, Melissa of The Inspired Room is hosting a Drive By: Around The World this week. She has asked that we take some snap shots of homes, gardens and/or landscapes that we find inspiring and beautiful. I have seen Drive By posts before and always thought what a good idea, but this is my first time actually doing it for myself. I must admit, it was fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing it.

This house has to be one of my all time favorites in the Memphis area. You can actually find this on our portfolio on our website. This house used to belong to a builder that we do faux work for. Can you spot our work? Of course, the exterior doors. Isn’t the Spanish Style of this home just intoxicating?!?!?

The attention to detail this house received is impeccable. I love the twisted columns, the balcony railing, the roof. I just love it all!

I could live in this Cottage Style house any day. I believe my favorite part is the door. I love the round window. The entry way is so classic and inviting. You know how I love color… the trim color is just right!

This house gives you a good idea of Midtown memphis. The grouping of azaleas is a Southern Staple! And that screened in porch… Aw, the many days I would spend out here!

Thank you Melissa for the great Drive By Challenge. I truly enjoyed it and can’t wait to do it again!

Melissa,
Thanks for going outside your comfort level and giving us a glimpse of Memphis (other than the ever iconic Graceland, lol). My favorite is the second house, but I could be happy with any of them.

I would take them all…the commute to Portland may be a bit too much to handle.

25

Melissa Lewis 06.04.08 at 12:07 am

Janet, believe it or not, I have lived here all my life and I’ve never been to Graceland!!!!!

karyn 06.04.08 at 1:19 am

Melissa, I love your choices, especially the first and last. The size of each of the lots are amazing to me. Is this typical in your area? Are the backyards as large as the front? How fantastic.

Love the homes you photographed. Looking through the rest of your blog I really love it. In tears over your “good enough” post. God is so amazing. He teaches us so much through marriage. I think that daddy’s also teach girls so much about who God is. You are very lovely, and that is not just outward, let His love and beauty continue to shine through you!

Karyn, I leave in a suburb north of Memphis, but lived in the city all my life. This neighborhood is in central Memphis and has some gorgeous older homes, which make the lots GORGEOUS!

Anna, I am so excited you visited my blog!

SouthernSeven, thank you so much for the kind words about my other post. God is amazing and I am so thankful I belong to Him!

Diana 06.04.08 at 9:43 am

Oh - I hope you don’t mind - I added you to my blog love list!

Thank you so much for the tour. I love the houses you have highlighted. One of my favorite activities is looking at houses and imagining what it would be like to own this house or that which is so different from my own basic multi-level:-)

It’s an etsy: http://www.glitterme.etsy.com
